DChocolate Festival at DusitD2 Nairobi: 11th to 14th February 2017 + My experience

Dusit D2 will be hosting the 2nd edition of the DChocolate Festival from Saturday 11th to Tuesday 14th February 2017. The festival will be held at the Zing Bar at DusitD2, on 14 Riverside Drive.

*Updated with my experience at the end

It will run every day from 5pm to 9pm, and from 5pm to 11pm on Valentine’s day. The cost is sh.1000 per plate , which will give you access to 4 items from a chocolate buffet of over 50 different chocolate recipes and chocolate varieties from different parts of the world. There will be as many chocolate types as you can think of (yes, even your fave), and more.

I’m particularly excited about this year’s DChocolate festival after seeing the desserts showcased during the launch party of Den Conferencing at Dusit a couple of weeks ago. Constantly seeing those photos has had me fighting cravings for weeks, and I can’t really wait to sample as much during the festival.

If you love chocolate or know someone who does, you can easily make this your Valentine’s treat. If you want more besides chocolate, you can have Valentine’s dinner at Soko (See poster below) and choose from the chocolate treatments at the renowned Devarana Spa at Dusit D2.

I went to the Chocolate Festival on the evening of 11th  with my cousin. 1000 shillings a plate only gets you 4 items from the chocolate buffet. There’s A LOT of chocolate and chocolate desserts so the hardest part is choosing just 4 items from the buffet at that price. We picked 8 different items to sample between us, and even took away home a bag. We realized that despite our love for chocolates, we could only tolerate so much sugar at a time.Bummer!😁

Chef Anis took us through the stations to help us decide, and it was clear how much thought and heart has gone into the chocolate display. He’s quite the star, Chef Anis. We sampled varieties with dark chocolate, brownies, black forest, chocolate cake and mint, passion fruit and waffles with chocolate sauce.

I’d recommend that you go with a friend or two, so that you’re able to sample as many items as you can from the buffet, and get value. The display is pretty decent and the ambiance at the Zing lounge is great. There isn’t to much flair so it doesn’t feel too much like a festival save for the extensive chocolatey display. Go if chocolates are one of your favourite things, or if you need to satiate a craving that just won’t go away!😀
